Pediatric Endocrinology

Pediatric endocrinology as a medical unit deals with hormones and diseases related to the endocrine glands where hormones are secreted. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of many different diseases such as growth and development delay, early and late puberty, obesity, menstrual irregularities, excessive hair growth and bone diseases.

Hormones are substances produced in the endocrine glands and released into the blood, which play an important role in the regular performance of all body functions, growth and development. Disturbances in the hormonal balance during childhood can cause much more serious problems than in adulthood. Hormonal disorders, which negatively affect growth and development, can also cause permanent damage in adulthood.

The endocrinology unit provides services in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of diseases related to hormones and the endocrine glands that produce them. Since children are in the process of continuous growth and development, they cannot be evaluated in the same conditions as adults. In this period, the internal balance of the body and its construction activities are in a very different order than usual. It is appropriate to examine this period in a separate discipline, since the basis of future diseases is laid in childhood and growth and development are continuous.
